Olomouc is perhaps the Czech Republic’s best kept secret and you may want to picture it as little Prague without the tourists.
Now that sounds appealing, doesn’t it? Let’s see then, Olomouc bursts with Baroque buildings not unlike the Czech capital, also its collection of historical monuments in general is said to be second only to Prague.
The town’s fortification can still be seen in fragments and quite a few interesting museums are right there to visit.
For art-lovers: The Museum of Art houses changing displays of 20th- century Czech paintings, sculpture and exhibitions of contemporary artists. Finally, visitors to Olomouc should not miss the city’s UNESCO World Heritage, the Holy Trinity Column. Olomouc is about 160 minutes away from Prague.
